A few days ago, I interviewed Gary Vaynerchuk (aka “Gary Vee”) for an article about social media and where it’s taking us. Here’s Gary on the “thank you economy,” which he suspects will be the subject of his next book. Give great service, care about people, and you’ll be successful in business. But wait, Gary: That advice isn’t just relevant to business. Those are the keys to coping with the demands of modern life. Look people in the eye, and in that moment of connection, no matter how brief the exchange, see them, care about them. They’ll feel good, and you’ll feel even better. And if that ain’t success, what is?
For those of you who don’t know him, Gary is the reigning master of Twitter and YouTube, a knowledgeable and genuinely nice guy–which is why everyone likes him. They might not know him in Hollywood, but he’s an A-list celebrity on the Internet, the one to “follow” if you want to know what the fuss is all about. Mostly, he’s a man on a mission, living his dream. And he thinks there’s room for everyone–well, anyone with a passion, knowledge, good social skills, and a willingness to put in the hours.Gary’s book, Crush It, is #265 on Amazon at this writing. I’ve already recommended it to my literary agent, my daughter who’s expanding her business, a longtime publishing colleague. It’s required reading for people who haven’t a clue about the role social media in the 21st century. And if you read between the lines, you’ll also see that Gary is the master of his own social convoy. He keeps his loved ones close, makes them a priority, but also responds to everyone who contacts him and really connects with them. He’s a new media guy with old-fashioned values. And he’s spot on about the “thank you economy.”

Gary Vee has a way of always knowing what is happening. Like for instance a discussion on partner up was titled social media doesn’t work.
This thread was started by a woman by the name of [name].
The thread went on with lots of people leaving comments. As time went on two people in the room became increasingly angry and hateful.
Those two people…are nasty people who only care about themselves.
[They] both own old traditional marketing companies online. This is why she and he were hating on Social media.
[name] said: “Holy Cow! I just went back and realized that Blogger’s School was a truck driver and now is a Social Media business consultant. I rest my case.”
Meaning that social media is going to fail because a truck driver is giving out business advice.
Then she said (here is that post): “I’m over you guys. You can’t talk facts to recent “I’ve found the answer to life!” converts. You’ll be on to the next big thing as soon as this dies down. Lots of assumptions going on, which reflect on you, not me. Nothing against truck drivers…the nation would probably grind to a halt without them. That doesn’t make them fit to give business advice.”
At the end of this Gary Vee video he mentions Cashiers, truck drivers and CEO’s on the same level for success.
